It's been a minute...

Time flies. And as a parent of now teenage daughters, it is flying really freaking fast! It has been a minute or 30 since I've sat down and put my thoughts to this blog. Life happens. I am now into my 10th month at a new job, working for an incredible company, doing things and learning about an industry I had no desire to ever be in before. What sold me was the company. The way they don't just make money and help people invest or spend theirs, but how they invest in the city I live in. My friend is the community engagement coordinator for the company, yes we have one of those, and she is a true ambassador for what we do. She sold me. November 2018, Kris told me he wanted to be home more and wanted to leave his second part-time job. I realized I needed to leave the school district and get a "grown up job" with a grown up paycheck. However, I did not want just any job. If I was going to give up time with our girls so he could get some back, it had to be working some...
Loving our chaotic life Having a high schooler adds a little chaos to life. There are new clubs, new events and just new interests that add to our already full calendar. I love it though. I love that our 9th grader is blossoming and not afraid to try new things. It is really fun to watch her grow. Scary, but fun! Little sister isn't too far behind. Trying new things, finding her way and keeping up with school. She is on a new ball team, again, she has the worst luck finding great teams and then watching them implode at the end of the season. Hopefully this new team will stick for awhile. Getting into the mix of the fall madness that happens every year. Loving it. Looking forward to the season.
Summer is ending, ready for fall I wonder if we will actually get a fall. Spring was non-existent. One weekend we were at the ball fields in coats and hats, the next we were slathering on sunscreen and sweating. Kansas you do crazy things to us. Could we just go back to 4 seasons again? I like the 4 seasons and what they bring. I've loved our summer. It was shorter for me than I'm used to. Trying to decide if it is time for me to get an adult job and leave the district and work more and make more. OR if I should stay put and offer the stability I've been able to offer to the girls for high school. 99.9% of me wants to do that. I love what I do, who I work with and for. I love being home with the girls when I can be. I LOVE THIS! However, I worry about the strain it puts on us financially. Being an adult is fun. Our summer was a blast. Celebrated Little P's big 13! Traveled for softball to Missouri and then to Colorado. I love our summers. I also loved the down ti...

And here we are

Two years. It flies by doesn't it? I haven't had a chance to sit down and type out my thoughts or our life for awhile. Of course, there is social media but that is usually a little snippet of our life. Not much else. Big P is headed into high school. Middle school was a good transitioning time for her. She found her way and decided what was worth her time. She is anxious about high school, the unknown, the lack of structure that she had in middle school. I am excited but sad. Sad that time has flown by so fast and will only continue to do so. Excited because she will bloom. I am grateful for my relationship with her and pray that we can continue to talk like we do. She has grown about 6 inches since she started middle school. I know the boys are paying attention. She is a little, but the introvert in her holds her back some, which I'm okay with. Little P had a decent entrance into middle school. Finally got to where she needs to be on math and confidence. Of course that...

Random musings

It is almost October. We are rolling into one of my favorite times of the year. Ok, let's be honest, I find something I like about every time of the year, but fall is always so restful. The weather change, the clothing required, hoodies, comfy pants, snuggling under a blanket around a bonfire. I love it. The apple smells, the pumpkin smells, the warm soups, the crunch of leaves that are so beautiful its a shame to see them fall. I love Halloween, and kiddos in cute costumes. Wow, I sound all mushy and mom like. Weird. Maybe it is the weather today. So much nicer than the ball of humidity we walked around in yesterday. I don't mind heat, but that whole humidity that makes your lungs feel like they can pop, I don't find anything favorite in that. I am avoiding my homework tonight. I have to write about an article I found and how it relates to the every so boring textbook we have for the class. I found an article on the BBC, one of the only resources I can use. I am not fe...

This crazy thing called life...

I am very blessed to have spent this summer home with our girls. We have had some great times, and it usually carries over to great family time. Lots of softball, but lots of swimming, fun with friends, fun with family and most of all, lots of time to snuggle. We've had some lazy days, which are very much needed. And we have had days where we busted our behinds from sun up to sun down. So much to be thankful for. We have had some tough lessons this summer too. A toxic situation with a family member turned nasty. That has since put Kris and I over the edge and no second chances will be given. This person is not worth any more words. Relief. Done. Big P starts middle school in 3 weeks! What?! It seems like yesterday she was walking through the doors of her elementary school for the first time. Time so flies when you have kids of your own. I am excited for her though. There are so many new opportunities coming her way. New friends, new academic challenges, as she was one of 52 7th...

Random Mondayness

It is now the time of summer where things are winding down while other things are just getting started. This softball season is getting ready to end. Big P has her last tourney in Nebraska next weekend. Little P may not be on hand as she had her tonsils and stuff out last week. Thankfully Kris is home one of the days as it falls between his shift days, but a good family friend will have Little P on the second day so I can cheer Big P on. Little P has two more tournaments, one in a couple of weeks which is State and not too far of a drive in KC. The other is World Series which is four hours away and of course Kris can not take off, the fire captains usually take all summer, so the other guys are kind of screwed. Kind of annoying but he did try. So the P's and I will have a girls trip. Two trips, back to back, just me and a P or two. Should be fun! Big P is in a tough spot for softball. She has a late December birthday which falls right before the age deadline and usually puts her ...
