Living
Summer is in full swing. Given, the first actual day of summer isn't until this Saturday, but we are in the midst of enjoying it. Lots of ball games, lots of activities and lots of busyness. The girls are enjoying their ball season. And after a totally out of our element soccer tryout debacle, they have landed on a new team, together. What a strange experience. I will leave it at that. So far, the new coach and families seem great. Not as competitive and more understanding of other activities, which is what we wanted to begin with.
Little P had her dance recital this past weekend. She took just one class at a new studio and loved it. I think rather than hip hop next year, she has her eyes set on tap. Big P is hinting at joining her. I like the idea of rounding out their activities. May have to get a second job to make that happen. Kidding. Well, maybe. Kris has a big interview tomorrow for an investigator spot. I think it would be a great fit for him. He has the desire to constantly learn rather than wait on promotions like some do at the department. I love that about him, and I think this would fill that void. Not to mention, he would only work one job, maybe two. But I think after our fire, this would give him more of an empathetic approach and would be a great asset to the investigation unit, so we shall see. I have to go buy him an interview outfit today, this should be fun. Especially since he is kicking butt (my butt in particular), on our weight loss challenge this summer. Its day number 17 and we are both seeing great results and running is happening. I regret not getting mine in this morning since we are now at 80% humidity for the day, but there is always tonight.
The house has hit a wall. Still waiting on the remodeler to go with plan B for a sheet rocker. I hope they get their act together. One month was the plan, its now into two and that is not acceptable. I don't want to be moving in around the holidays. So any prayers, well wishes for work to start are truly appreciated. Our new roof is on and it looks great. New gutters are coming soon. Trying to be patient. But sometimes, patience needs kicked to the back seat to make things happen.
Back to ball....Little P's team is rolling! They've won 5 out of 6 tournaments and are headed to the world series. Big P's team isn't far behind. Its been a fun journey and one that some people don't understand. "why do you spend all your time at the ball diamonds?" I guess its hard to explain to those not willing to do it. The girls love it. They love their activities and we only let them do what they love. We are overextended at times, but we adjust. But truthfully, I can't imagine NOT being involved with our girls. Kris and I enjoy spending our weekends at the ballfields. We enjoy seeing our girls make friendships that will last a long time and we enjoy seeing them do something they love. There are times that it does wear them out. Big P guest played a few weekends ago, and was literally behind the plate for 5 straight games. But she had a blast and truly enjoyed it. Her thighs were burning for a few days but I know that she thought it was worth it. She got MVP of one of the games and the look on her face said it was worth it. I am proud of both of them and enjoy watching them play. In fact, when season is over, we usually have that "what do we do with our weekend now?" moment.
Well back to the living. Letting the girls sleep in and have a summer this week. Maybe some swimming, since we do live where the family pool is located. Living is the only thing worth doing and doing right. It may not make sense to some, but again, living for others doesn't work so well does it!?
